Alkali heliotrope (also called salt heliotrope) is common in the picnic area and in the alkali meadow. The summer flowers can be a light blue, lilac, soft pink or white. The early blossoms are more colorful with yellow centers. 
The flower heads get very long as the flowers on the tips open.
